There’s a poetic beauty in an aged sunflower that only time reveals. In this intimate portrait of wilted sunflowers, their once bold forms soften and curl with quiet drama, petals like sun-washed parchment, crisping at the edges, their centres darkening into sculptural, architectural forms. No longer reaching for the light, they turn inward. The golden petals replaced by rich sepia, bronze, and ochre. Textures deepen, and in this slow surrender, an unexpected beauty takes root. What was once vitality becomes more painterly, more poignant. Sunflowers grown in our garden and photographed in a vintage French pot.

Inspired by the Dutch Masters floral paintings but reimagined through a contemporary lens.

The Print and the Paper

Printing: Giclée Archival Inkjet Print

Paper: Fine Art Etching Cotton Rag 330gsm Matte

Your artwork will be printed on premium Fine Art Etching Cotton rag paper, this is museum quality for highest age resistance. It will be rolled in a tube and shipped directly to you from the printers and include a signed certificate of authentication. Please ask your framer to attach this to the back of the frame. All prints come unframed with a 10mm white handling border. The paper gives muted blacks an even colour reproduction, and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel. It has a delicate surface so we recommend extra care when handling, I strongly advise not opening the tube but give directly to your framer to handle, they will use special gloves to avoid finger prints and be working in a space that protects the paper. Your artwork is an investment and very precious so I recommend asking your framer to use a protective non-reflective artglass with a UV filter, this will greatly reduce any potential fading. I recommend either UV70 or museum glass.
