Secret Garden
Secret Garden. Spring 2025
A hidden sanctuary where time lingers. Beneath the woodland canopy at the back of our property, the air is cool and damp, alive with native birdsong and the quiet sounds of insects. Here, epiphytes and moss grow over the branches, a tapestry of biodiversity. The trees canopy overhead, all sense of modern life disappears and time stops, for a moment the peaceful atmosphere hugs you with its healing embrace.
I created a woodland backdrop for the tulips, it’s as if they are growing out of the moss and the epiphytes, I added the dancing lady orchids from my treasured orchid plant, winter hellebores, violas and poppies all from our garden, the Pieris Japonica we planted several years ago is flowering, I love the clusters of pale pink bell-shaped flowers. The Nigella pods and the epiphytes both have the deep red that harmonises perfectly with the Palmyra tulip and the hellebores. The spotted moth orchid represents the butterflies in our summer garden and at the bottom of the arrangement is a nest that came out of a tree and inside this are five little sparrow eggs from our pet Tweedy who has been living with us now for nearly two years.
A study in harmony and balance. With the beautiful flower gardens taking centre stage there must be balance, as much thought and responsibility needs to be taken for creating natural environments, these are crucial for supporting our native birds, insects and lizards.

The Print and the Paper
Printing: Giclée Archival Inkjet Print
Paper: Fine Art Etching Cotton Rag 330gsm Matte
Your artwork will be printed on premium Fine Art Etching Cotton rag paper, this is museum quality for highest age resistance. It will be rolled in a tube and shipped directly to you from the printers and include a signed certificate of authentication. Please ask your framer to attach this to the back of the frame. All prints come unframed with a 10mm white handling border. The paper gives muted blacks an even colour reproduction, and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel. It has a delicate surface so we recommend extra care when handling, I strongly advise not opening the tube but give directly to your framer to handle, they will use special gloves to avoid finger prints and be working in a space that protects the paper. Your artwork is an investment and very precious so I recommend asking your framer to use a protective non-reflective artglass with a UV filter, this will greatly reduce any potential fading. I recommend either UV70 or museum glass.
